Running an online store means you’re probably knees deep in repetitive tasks that consume a whole lot of time every day that you wish you could offload to someone, or… even AI. Writing product descriptions, creating social media posts, forecasting inventory, adjusting promotions – it’s stuff you do every day and believe it or not, AI can handle most of this for you right now using tools you already have access to.
Here are the five tasks every Shopify, BigCommerce, and Turbify store owner should consider automating right away.
1. Writing Product Descriptions, Titles & Meta Descriptions
Writing good, attention grabbing product copy is very important, yet it’s time-consuming and tedious. AI can get the job done for you in minutes.
Paste your product specs into ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or Gemini and ask: “Write a compelling product description, SEO-optimized title, and meta description (under 160 characters) for [product]. Here are the specs: [paste specs].” You may have to do some tweaking with the prompt to get the right tone, but once you do, you’re saving time almost immediately!

One product might take you 20 minutes to write up manually. If you have 100 new products that just arrived and you need to get them online, that’s 30+ hours worth of writing. With AI, it’s 2-3 hours of prompting and editing.
The best tool for the job: ChatGPT or Claude for consistent quality.
2. Writing Social Media Captions & Posts
Most store owners know they should post 3-5 times weekly on their social channels, but let’s be honest… most don’t because it can be exhausting and oftentimes doesn’t take priority over more pressing tasks.
Take a moment and ask your favorite AI tool: “Write 5 Instagram captions for a summer sale on [product]. Include trendy language, emojis, and 10-15 hashtags. Also create 2 TikTok captions.”

You can generate 10 posts in around a half hour instead of spending half your day doing it yourself. Just add a personal detail or two to make them sound like you and your brand.
The best tool for the job: ChatGPT or Gemini for your unique tone and researching trends.
3. Forecast Inventory Based on Sales Trends
If you’re overstocking your warehouse with product, you’re wasting money. If you’re not stocking enough, you’re losing sales. Gone are the days of sitting in front of a spreadsheet trying to figure out how last years trends will impact this year and what you need to order. AI can predict what you actually need with astounding accuracy.
Test it out by exporting your last 12 months of sales data and ask Claude or ChatGPT: “Identify seasonal trends, predict Q2 demand, and recommend reorder quantities for my top 20 products. Which items are slow-moving?”
You may be shocked at what you see. However, by implementing better forecasting you can improve your cash flow almost immediately. Set up a repeating task to do this every month to stay on top of things. By implementing it now you can have a real solid tool to help you with inventory for the 2026 holiday shopping season.
The best tool for the job: Claude is your go-to AI friend for data analysis.
4. Generate Discount & Promotion Suggestions
It’s time to plan your next big sale and this time, instead of just picking items at random and discounting them, let AI tell you which items you should put on sale based on your actual inventory and sales data.
Test it out by gathering up your inventory levels, profit margins, and sales history. Ask Claude: “Which 10 products should I discount this month? What discount percentage will get rid of slow movers without hurting margins? Suggest 3 product bundles.”
By using AI to go deeper into the data than you ever will, you’ll find that these strategically researched promotions will outperform that gut decision sale you were planning on running.
The best tool for the job: Once again it’s Claude due to it’s data handling skills.
5. Generate Product FAQs from Descriptions & Images
Customers ask the same questions over and over, just ask the folks handling your customer service emails. Head off those questions immediately by generating product FAQ’s once instead of answering the same questions forever.
See just how simple it is by uploading product images and your product description for one items into Claude or ChatGPT and tell it to: “Generate 8-10 common customer questions about this product and answer them. Format as an FAQ.”

It’s shown that product pages with FAQs convert better than those without. This will take you about 10-15 minutes per product, so start with the ones that generate the most questions, are the most complex, or are slow sellers.

Don’t Waste Any More Time! Embrace AI
Many store owners are afraid of AI, or think it’s just too complex for them to learn. But you’ll be surprised just how easy it its to use these different AI tools available and you’ll be even more surprised by the results you’ll see just by trying these 5 things we’re suggesting.
Now, you don’t need to overhaul your entire operation or go AI crazy right away. Pick one task that wastes the most time, spend 15 minutes experimenting with one tool, get it to the point where it works just how you need it to work, then scale from there.
ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini are all free to try. Most store owners find they save 5-10 hours (or more!) per week immediately.
The question isn’t whether to use AI. It’s which task you’re automating first.
