How to Get a Collaborator Request Code for Your Shopify Store

At Your Store Wizards, we work with dozens Shopify store owners whether it’s to troubleshoot app issues, customize a theme, build a new store, or migrate an existing store to the platform. One of the first steps in this process is gaining access to the store, which is done through a collaborator account, which allows us to log in to your Shopify admin panel through our Shopify Partner Dashboard. To initiate this access, we need a collaborator request code—a unique 4-digit code that you, the store owner, provide to ensure only trusted partners like us can request access.

When a collaborator—such as a developer, designer, or marketer—wants to work on your store, they must include this code in their request through their Shopify Partner Dashboard. This ensures that only individuals or teams you’ve explicitly shared the code with can initiate a request, adding an extra layer of security.

Once a request is submitted, you receive an email notification and can review the requested permissions in your Shopify admin. You can approve or reject the request, and even customize the permissions to limit access to specific areas, such as products, themes, or settings.

Where to Get a Collaborator Request Code and How to Share It

Finding and sharing your Shopify collaborator request code is straightforward. Follow these steps to locate or generate a code and share it with a developer like Your Store Wizards:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. From the dashboard, click Settings in the lower left corner.
  3. Select Users and Permissions from the settings menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Collaborators section.

That’s it!  Your code will be displayed so you can copy and past it and share with your Shopify partner.
