As an eCommerce store owner, you should be keeping a library of all your product images either locally or in the cloud. Of course, storing them in the cloud is the best option as this will allow you to share the library with others in your company and also reduces the risk of them being lost due to a hard drive or other storage failures.
By having all your store’s product images in an easily accessible library, they not only serve as a backup “just in case,” but they’re also available for other purposes such as advertisements, including in blog posts, or use on another store or website.
Can I download my product images from BigCommerce?
If you don’t have a copy of your product images saved anywhere, you might be wondering how you can get them. Good question! In fact, many BigCommerce store owners have asked us if they can download their product images.
The answer is yes… but it takes a little work and some knowledge of WebDAV to access your product images and other files on BigCommerce’s servers.
What is WebDAV?
WebDAV is a tool that makes it easier for people to work together on files and folders stored online. Think of WebDAV as a more advanced and more secure form of FTP. BigCommerce uses WebDAV to allow store owners to manage files on a website using an interface like you would on your computer.
However, there is no built-in WebDAV client or interface in BigCommerce that you can use to access your store’s files – including product images. To access it, you would need to use a WebDAV client such as Cyberduck and enable WebDAV on your store.

Can I download my product images from BigCommerce without using WebDAV?
I knew you were going to ask that question, and the answer is… yes!
Your Store Wizards has a free tool that’s part of our Your Store Tools suite, that you can use to download product images from BigCommerce without using WebDAV or any software you have to install on your computer.
We made it very easy for you to download all your product images in just a few clicks! If you’re a new Your Store Tools user, you will first need to create a free account. Once your account is created, you’ll have access to all our free BigCommerce tools as well as additional premium tools.
Now, I want to make it clear that our free tools are just that – free! We don’t collect any billing information from you in order to create an account and use our tools. The only thing you need to do is create an account and take the steps outlined in our setup documentation to link Your Store Tools to your BigCommerce Store.
Once that is done, the Your Store Tools dashboard will display all the tools available for you, including the Download Product Images tool:
To begin, simply click on the tool:
The next step will allow you to select what product images you want to download. If you don’t want to download every single product image in your store, you can filter which ones you’d like to download by different criteria including:
- SKU / SKUs
- Category
- Brand
- Product Condition
- Product Visibility
- Featured Product
- Free or Paid Shipping Products
- In Stock or Out of Stock Products
If you don’t select any filters, all images will be downloaded.
Being able to filter which products you want to download images for is what makes this tool much more powerful than using WebDAV to access your images, plus it’s a lot easier!
Once your filters are set, click next to advance to the next screen where you can choose to have a CSV file included with your download. This file is handy should you need to reupload the images to your store, or if you want to use images on a different website.
It will automatically populate a field in the CSV with a full image path generated by the URL you put in for the image location. For more information on how this file can be used, see our support documentation.
If you’re not going to use that data, simply select no and advance to the next step.
If you want to receive an email notification when your file is ready to be downloaded, select the yes option, otherwise, you’ll receive a notification in your dashboard when your file is ready to download!
That’s it! All your product images will be collected and put into a ZIP file that you can download and do whatever you want.
This is the quickest and easiest way to download your product images from BigCommerce in just a few clicks, without having to learn WebDAV, or install any additional software on your computer!
