You may have heard of a free time-saving tool we introduced a while back called Magic Edit. This Google Chrome extension was designed to save time while editing an eCommerce store by replacing multiple mouse clicks with quick short-cuts.
Over the past few months, our app development team has been hard at work building a new multiplatform version of Magic Edit that offers even more useful features and is compatible with Yahoo! Store, BigCommerce^, Shopify, and WordPress.
Once you install the Chrome extension, you’ll have a powerful tool that gives you easy access to areas of your store/website that will allow you to:
- Quickly access platform help documents and technical support;
- Access edit screens for orders, products/items, pages, posts, collections, categories, etc.;*
- Create new items, pages, posts, categories, etc.;*
- Access tools such as tests for speed, structured data markup, HTTPS readiness,** and more;
- View the Google Analytics Product Performance Report while on an individual item page;***
- Contact Your Store Wizards for technical support or work order requests.
To get started using Magic Edit, simply click here to download and install the extension from the Google Chrome Store. (If you have a previous version of Magic Edit installed, please remove it before installing this new version.)
Once installed, an icon will appear in your browser bar:
By right-clicking this icon and going to settings, you can customize where you want the Magic Edit Shortcut to appear on the screen when you visit a supported storefront/website. (Top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, hide). If you have a BigCommerce store, you’ll find information here on an additional step that needs to be taken to enable Magic Edit.
When you visit a supported storefront/website, the Magic Edit Shortcut will appear. Right-clicking on it will give you instant access to the available shortcuts and features! See the screen-shots at the end of this post to see what options are available for each platform.
