Important Announcement: Yahoo! Legacy Search Will Be Discontinued on April 30, 2018

With the recent push for all websites to be SSL by July 18, 2018 – Yahoo’s Legacy Search, which is not compliant with SSL will reach it’s end of life on April 30, 2018.

You will see a notice inside of your store editor.  It will look something like this…

There are solutions and our goal here is to explain your options.

First, you need to determine which version of search your website is using.  Chances are, if you’ve been selling online “forever” and haven’t ever upgraded or purchased a search product, you most likely are using Yahoo’s V1 (Legacy) Search.

Go to your live website and do a search.  Yahoo’s Legacy V1 Search has a classic look.  It never allowed for modifications, so it is very easy to pick out.  If you do a search and you see items lined up, close together, you most likely have V1 Search.  It will look something like this…

If your search looks different than this, you are most likely using Yahoo’s V2 search, or a search product from another company such as Search Magic, SLI, or Nextopia.

If your search looks like this, you will have until April 30, 2018 to upgrade to Yahoo’s V2 search, or move to another site search provider.  We have two options available at Your Store Wizards.

You are able to upgrade to Yahoo’s V2 search at no cost by following the instructions provided here.  The issue you may have is that Yahoo’s V2 search is much more robust and allows for configuration.  Out of the box, some merchants are not happy with how this search looks and extra customization is necessary.  If you would like Your Store Wizards to install V2 search for you, please click here.

For merchants who require a more powerful search product, we offer Search Magic. Search Magic is a complete search solution, with analytics, a dashboard, and the ability to customize your search results.  If you would like to upgrade to Search Magic, please click here to learn more.
